“Oh wow! I knew I’d seen you somewhere! What have you been in?”
“Ummm, Zero Dark Thirty?”
“Wow! I loved that movie! What part did you play?”
“Actually . . . I was Zero Dark Thirty.”” Actually, Ms. Chastain is Molly’s Game, too. Molly Bloom was the real-life NY poker princess, not the girl in Ulysses, as Molly patiently explains. No, she’s not Irish, she’s Jewish. Chastain plays this latest felon with a heart of gold, all in. Her transformation from Colorado ski nerd to the Four Seasons is done in exquisite style. Despite this, I rather missed the purpose of the story, possibly the fault of Aaron Sorkin’s (Charlie Wilson’s War) inexperience with directing a major motion picture. Sorkin’s pen is always masterful and it's a fun movie. But this heart of gold is never flopped.
I thought the purpose of the story was to show Molly's middle-class to riches story in a male-dominated industry.

That's a reasonable interpretation, Kyle. I just didn't feel that the movie pointed at that conclusion. Perhaps that was left to us to decide.
